Here are some frequently asked questions (FAQs) related to changes to STP files that have come into effect as of the 1st of July.
The most common error you'll see is: SBR.GEN.AUTH.006
The reason for this is likely because you have not correctly updated the ATO's Access Manager.
What to do if I receive this error: SBR.GEN.AUTH.006?
This means you need to make sure you have authorised MessageXchange and added in your SSID in the ATO's Access Manager. To do this log in to Access Manager and:
- notify the ATO of your hosted software service (Search for ABN: 73 076 521 161),
- and add your software ID (this is your SSID)
The ATO have a step-by-step guide to help you authorise a sending service provider in Access Manager here: https://softwaredevelopers.ato.gov.au/sites/default/files/2026-04/Nominating_a_sending_service_provider_(SSP)_in_Access_Manager.pdf
Don't have an SSID? Here's how to get one
If you haven't received an SSID, get in touch with us with your ABN, and if you're a DSP your customers ABNs too, and your product ID. Please provide a contact email and mobile number so we can send the SSID to you securely.
